Portsmouth Football Club hold a Complimentary dinner, dance anbd social evening for the players.

1930 December 12th Clifton Rooms, Portsmouth Football Club Dinner, with entertainment from Murial Dance soprano, Peggy Hartley Comedienne, Kent Francis humourist, Mr Bert Leonard’s Band.

1937

November 10th Portsmouth Temperance Lodge Ladies Evening Kimbells Orchestra under the direction of Mr R Sadler.

1944

January 15th Portsmouth Football Club Dinner
May 6th, Saturday, Fleetlands Sports Club hold a dance at Kimbells Osborne Road.

1945

January 19th Grand Ball at Kimbells, Southsea with Sgt. Leslie Douglas and Pearl Carr, with the Bomber Command Dance Orchestra.
April 25th Hospital Ball at Kimbells with a specially augmented band.

1946

January 15th Member of the cast from the Kings Theatre panto Dick Whittington entertain at Kimbells for the Eye and Ear Hospital staff dance.
April 23rd Nancarrow's Band play at Kimbells in aid of the Linen and Woollen Drapers' Institute and Cottage Homes.
June 21st At Kimbells, Bill Cole and his Clubmen play for dancing with famous radio vocalist Benny Lee arranged by the National Radio Club.
September 28th,Saturday, Grand Ball at Kimbells Clifton Ballroom with eight bands.
October 1st A United nations Association Ball is held at Kimbells Osborne Road, with advice on sequence dancing given by Victor Sylvester.

January 25th Saturday, At Kimbells, Victor Sylvester presents the BBC dancing Club Championships.
February 6th Save the children fund Ball at Kimbells Cafe Southsea, with the Kimbells Orchestra.
March 5th Handley's feast and dance
May 5th At Kimbells Osborne Road 10 bands play at Portsmouth Musicians Union Grand Dance Band parade.
May 14th Cinema Ball at Kimbells Osborne Road arranged by cinema managers.
September 11th Locals Charles Ellis and Maureen Canavan were one of four couples selected at Kimbells Osborne Road, for future competitions.

1948

March 1st Portsdown Arches Ball
November 30th St Andrews Day Anniversary Dinner and Dance for the Portsmouth abnd Duistrict Caledonian Society.

1949

February 7th Jimmy Harris becomes Musical Director at Kimbells Osborne Road and his Dance Orchestra will play at evening functions. His trio with Jimmy Harris at the piano will play for morning coffees and afternoon teas.
February 23rd At Kimbells Osborne Road, the Portsdown Archery Club have Jimmy Harris and his Orchestra to play for dancing.
March 12th Saturday, Jimmy Harris and his Band play at Kimbells Osborne Road.
April 13th Kimbells Clifton Rooms are closed for 10 weeks but there will be dancing in the restaurant to Jimmy Harris and his Orchestra.
August 6th Saturday, The Kimbells Clifton Rooms are now re-opened for functions.

March 13th The Jimmy James Orchestra play at Kimbells Clifton Ballroom for the 'Daedalus' old time dance committee.

June 4th At the Portsmouth Group Hospitals Coronation Ball at Kimbells, cabaret from Joan St Paul, the local musical prodigy of BBC fame.
July 20th Dave Shepherd and his Band play at Kimbells, Osborne Road.
December 31st Two bands at Kimbells Orsborne Road, Trevor Nabarro and his Music plus Roy Richards and his Mayfair Music.

1954

April 19th Reg Bannistra and his Music join Roy Richards and his Mayfair Orchestra at Kimbells Ballroom.
June 22nd Kimbells Tea Dances are suspended for the season.
July 29th Jive dancing only at Kimbells tonight.
August 5th Johnny Lyne and his Music play at Kimbells along with Roy Richards and his Mayfair Orchestra.

1955

March 13th Roy Richards and his Mayfair Orchestra play at the Cafe Continental, at Kimbells in Osborne Road.
May 20th The Southsea Dancing Festival will run from May 22nd to May 26th at the Savoy and Kimbells.
August 1st Reg Bannistra and his Orchestra play at Kimbell in Southsea with the Roy Richards Mayfair Orchestra.
October 31st Barry McCarthy and his Dixielands plus Benny Freedman and his Orchestra play at Kimbells as the Savoy Ballroom is privately booked.
November 23rd Graham Leslie and his Music play at Kimbells.

1958

April 19th The Circle Club, at Kimbells Corner House, presents a 'Jazz Jamboree'.
April 23rd A celebrity concert at Kimbells, Osborne Road arranged by Florence Graves for the Portsmouth Musical competition Festival includes Margaret Moncrief piano.
May 10th The Southsea Jewish Club hold their first charity dance at Kimbells with cabaret from Mavis Freeman, and Bobby Collins.
November 7th Rowlands Castle Golf Club Dinner and Dance.

1959

August 29th Saturday, "Those Casuals" appear at Kimbells Ballroom.
September 22nd Dancing to the Kimbells Dance Orchestra at Kimbells.

1967

1967’s first weekend at the Birdcage with “Freakout” on Friday, the Art Woods on Saturday and Prince Bustup’s ska records on Sunday.
21 January Pink Floyd came to Portsmouth for the first time to play at the Birdcage.
February 4th opened at the Birdcage with the return of the Who
The Birdcage too was fairly low-key in March 1967
Easter was lively at the Birdcage where Chris Farlowe and the Academy played the latest all-nighter.
Pink Floyd returned to the Birdcage in April (7/6d) as Saturdays became the only night to see live bands.
May gig was Georgie Fame on Friday 12th, after which there were no record sessions and just three more Birdcage Saturdays with Joyce Bond, Prince Buster and Amen Corner.
